Whether you travel a lot or a couple times a year, most likely you won’t forget to pack your essentials – passport, travel documents, photo ID and your credit cards. Thankfully, most of us never forget to include these items in our packing checklist.
On the other hand, if you talk to a seasoned traveler they might tell you how it’s the little irritations that often get in the way of having an enjoyable vacation. Even frequent travelers tend to forget packing items which can make life easier away from home.
Of course the idea of going on a vacation is to get out of your comfort zone; even so, there is no harm in packing a few things which you know could make your experience more pleasurable and hassle-free.
We have compiled a list of five essential items that people often leave behind in the excitement of a long awaited vacation. If you forget these, your vacation could be a dud.
So, here’s hoping you won’t forget these crucial items!
1. A Sturdy Water Bottle
It’s not even funny how much we end up spending on bottled water while on a trip. From grabbing water at the airport to always having to have spare change while you’re out and about – you never realize how much you drink water until you have to pay for it each time.
An easy solution to save both your time and money is to carry along some water in a reusable water bottle. You can refill it whenever you come across access to water or you can buy a large supply of water at the grocery store and refill your water bottle when necessary. To save packing space, use a bottle that goes flat when empty.
“I won’t need them.” “It’s not my style.” “I’ll buy a pair when I get there.”
Well, flip-flops may not fit into your definition of a stylish wardrobe, but they would prove to be an essential item to your tired feet at the end of a long day. Flip-flops are ideal when you want to take a lazy stroll or move around exploring the hotel and nearby places. Besides, why buy over-priced essentials sold at holiday destinations when you have them at home?
So, make sure to buy a few spare flip flops and pack them in your suitcase and carry-on luggage.
3. MP3 Music Player and other Gadgets
A music player will come in handy when you’re craving some me-time in the middle of chaos. If you can pair it with noise-cancelling headphones, then you’re afternoon just got better!
Don’t forget to pack your phone charger and, if traveling overseas, a power adapter plug with a built-in USB socket will definitely come in handy. Another gadgets travelers swear by these days is a portable power bank, also known as a USB battery pack, to charge devices on the go.
4. First Aid and Personal Care
If you’re traveling with children, you can never be too prepared. Pack an antiseptic ointment, some bandages, and medication for common travel related problems such as indigestion, motion sickness, diarrhea and cold and headache in a plastic box or a zip pouch. Also, carry a hand sanitizer, lip balm and sunscreen. These won’t take much space in your suitcase but will save you a great deal of inconvenience on your trip.
5. Portable Blu-Ray Player
When there’s only so much you can pack, there are some items that you might as well leave behind – just don’t leave behind our portable Blu-Ray player. Instead of spending more money going out every night, why not relax in your room and watch a movie? Who says you have to go sky-diving or salsa dancing every night you’re on vacation? Bring a little of “home” to your hotel with a good date-night movie.
These are some crucial items that will make your trip more enjoyable and comfortable. Of course, essentials items will vary depending on the type of vacation you are taking, where you are going and at what time of the year you plan to hop on a plane. However, take our word for it; the five items listed above are sure to make your vacation a tad more comfortable.
So, tell us, what travel item can’t you live without?
