As adults, we live busy lives and sometimes our wardrobe falls to the wayside. Women who become mothers often put away their fancy and nice clothes and opt for some comfy sweats and tennis shoes instead.

What’s worse is, if you have no clue you are making a fashion mistake and often wonder why strangers are snickering or laughing at you. Don’t worry, here are 6 fashion faux pas that you can quickly identify and swiftly fix.

1. Always Wearing Yoga Pants

I know. This is a staple in many women’s wardrobes. You slip on the comfortable Lululemon pants and instead of utilizing them for what they are, an exercise clothing, you decide to go grocery shopping or out to the movies with them.

Nothing says lazy than wearing yoga pants everywhere you go. Even if they are $100 yoga pants.

Instead of slipping on those comfortable pants, opt for some leggings. Leggings under a long cowl-neck sweater or t-shirt immediately puts you on par with current trends. Slip on some ankle boots and you’re ready to tackle the day.

2. The Sneaker

Another go-to for many busy moms and women. Wearing sneakers are easy and comfortable, but they dress down any outfit and often looks out of place.

You might get away with some non-athletic sneakers like from Sketchers, but don’t get too complacent in wearing them. If you aren’t a big shoe person, all you need are a few staples to get you by for each season:

  • Sandals
  • Slip on shoe
  • Ankle boot
  • Calf boot

Any one of the shoes I just mentioned can be paired with jeans, pants or dresses. Have them in simple colors like black, white and one pop of color (turquoise, purple, red etc..). If you are daring, opt for a animal print pattern to spice up any dull outfit.

3. Wearing the Wrong Bra Size

If you are still wearing the same bra size that you wore in high school, I have something to say: it’s the wrong size.

Even if you think you are wearing the right size of bra, think again. A whopping 64% of us are still making bra size mistakes.

So what do you do about this? Many lingerie stores have people to help you properly fit for a bra. Go to one. It will make your outfit look 10 times better.

4. Wearing the Wrong Size

Everyone wants to be two sizes smaller than they are now, but don’t go buying outfits that size. When you end up wearing clothes that are too small, you start to accentuate parts of your body you’d rather forget.

Similarly, wearing clothes that are a tad too big, results in you looking disheveled and bulky. So when you go shopping, don’t look at the sizes. Try on clothes until they fit comfortably, and accentuates the best parts of your body. This creates a flattering figure.

So how can you tell if something is the right size?

  • It’s not too tight around the waist or bust
  • The shirt doesn’t roll up from your waist
  • The pants dont¬†cover your feet

5. Wearing Only Solid Colors

One thing to keep in mind is not having too many solid colored shirts in your closet. They definitely have their place in your wardrobe, but refrain from wearing them every day. Show a bit of your personality (or what you want your personality to be) with some printed shirts.

Stripes, Florals, chevron or a funky pattern help breaks up your wardrobe and doesn’t make you appear dull and uninspiring.

Dress Better and Think Better of Yourself

What you wear and how you feel go hand in hand. If you are having a rough day, the likelihood of you dressing up is slim. You’re more likely to put on an over stretched sweatshirt and sweatpants to lounge around all day.

Similarly, if you attempt to dress up, but unknowingly make fashion mistakes, you will sense something is off when you go about your day. A co-worker might glance at you a bit longer than normal, or that guy you have a crush on isn’t paying you attention.

Take a few minutes a day to spruce up your wardrobe and show your true personality. Dare to go out of your comfort zone!
