One of my biggest struggles when shopping today is finding clothing items that are unique and that nobody else has.

You see the latest celebrity sporting your very own maxi dress, all the while thinking that you picked out something unique that no one has seen before.

There’s so much choice on today’s high street so why is it still so hard to find something different? With so many power house clothing companies taking over the industry, it is easy to get carried away with them.

Wouldn’t it be nice to find a style that’s truly unique and individual? While you may think it’s hard, it really isn’t nowadays.

If you share my pain, here’s a few independent brands I’ve found that offer something fresh and new.

1. Edit


This brand is certainly not for the faint of heart. Originating from Hong Kong, Edit aims to combine ‘one-part eclectic femininity and one-part relaxed ease,’ – resulting in oversized dresses, unique silhouettes and bold colors. I for one cannot get enough.



SEZANE is a  fledgling online-only French brand will soon be your new go-to for chic basics with a twist. They’ve managed to achieve a laid-back Parisian aesthetic that embodies femininity, effortless style and classic silhouettes – but with a fashionable twist. Oh, and the shoes are really, really good…

One for the boys, if you’re looking an on trend and unique gift for your brother, boyfriend or bestie, look no further that Antony Morato. Enchantingly pretty cocktail gowns, which can double as wedding dresses, slouchy trousers in evening fabrics and sexy tops make up this beautiful and affordable brand. 36-year-old Malaysian designer Han Chong is a graduate of Central Saint Martins is behind self-portrait, saying that he wants to make ‘beautiful clothes that aren’t crazily expensive.’
